Policy Issues

IVD Australia represents multinational companies, local distributors and Australian manufacturers of IVD's. It is not just an association of Australian companies supplying pathology tests however; all companies who are active in the IVD Industry including Regulatory consultants are eligible to be members of IVD Australia

As well as providing a range of support services for its members, IVD Australia pursues a strategy of raising the awareness of the clinical and cost utility of diagnostics in the provision of effective healthcare across Australia.

Advocacy on behalf of the IVD industry is a major part of the activities undertaken by IVD Australia as it seeks to influence policy regarding the importation, regulation, reimbursement and market access for in vitro diagnostics.

To this end the Association is active in Government reviews and in regular meetings with key Federal and State Ministers, regulatory agencies such as the TGA and AQIS, learned societies and groups such as RCPA and AACB, and other bodies such as Standards Australia and NATA.

Consultations and Submissions are a key means of communicating the IVD industry's position on these important matters.
