Code of Conduct

As the representative body for the in vitro diagnostics Industry in Australia, IVD Australia has a responsibility to ensure that the promotion of these products occurs in an ethical and responsible manner.

To this end IVD Australia has developed a Code of Conduct for the IVD industry. Adoption of this code is mandatory for IVD Australia Members, but those in the industry who are not members are also strongly encouraged to adopt it.

The Code is currently in its 1st Edition; a copy of which can be downloaded here. The Code was officially adopted by Members at the Annual General Meeting held on 21st October 2010.

The Code aims to reflect the special place that IVD's hold in the practice of medicine; over 70% of all clinical decisions are influenced by the performance of an in vitro diagnostic test, yet most patients never see the test performed nor meet the scientist or pathologist responsible for ensuring that the test is performed accurately.
